Eating Disorders

I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. Eating disorders are serious and treatable. I have completed advanced training in “Enhanced” Cognitive Behavior Therapy  (CBT-E) through the Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford. Based on recent research, it is the most effective treatment for adults with eating disorders. I have also completed training in Family Based Treatment (FBT also known as “Maudsley”) for adolescents with Anorexia through the Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders. FBT is an evidenced based treatment that can offer an alternative to day treatment programs or inpatient hospitalizations.

I have experience in all levels of eating disorder treatment including residential, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and most recently inpatient psychiatric stabilization at New York Presbyterian Hospital. I have specific interest and speciality in the treatment of adolescents with eating disorders. With adolescents I utilize Family Based Treatment (FBT). I understand that families can feel overwhelmed by their child’s illness and uncertain of how to help. I utilize FBT as it views the family as the greatest resource and asset in helping their child recover. I actively involve families through all stages of treatment.
